In November 2025, Michael Sestak unveiled a new programmable LED lighting system along K Street, stretching from Downtown Commons to the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center. Inspired by the historic marquees that once lined the corridor, the dynamic system shifts colors to mark holidays, community celebrations, and Sacramento sports wins, while improving pedestrian safety and visibility after dark. The project broke new ground technically as well: it’s the first installation in Sacramento to run on wireless communication rather than hardwired pole-to-pole cable, creating a forward-thinking model designed to be replicated anywhere.
Developed in partnership with the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, the City of Sacramento, SMUD, and Sacramento Regional Transit, the project reflects Sestak Lighting Design’s signature blend of artistry, engineering, and community-minded placemaking.
