A downtown Sacramento institution since 1939 and a James Beard “America’s Classic,” Frank Fat’s has welcomed the city’s movers and shakers just steps from the State Capitol for generations. The lighting design rises to that legacy. Lining the bar is a row of custom 3D-printed table lamps, each marrying a precisely tiered base to a hand-blown amber glass shade that glows like a lantern against the black stone. In the main dining room, a cascading sculpture of beveled glass panels descends from a backlit skylight, framed by warm red cove lighting and gold-leaf ceilings. Backlit niches spotlight the restaurant’s ornate artwork, turning a beloved landmark into a richer, more atmospheric experience after dark.
