Project Overview
DNA Double Helix Fantasy hangs in a vertical skylight and provides light for the stairway to the second floor. Fifteen beveled plate glass panels float between two monorails that bring power to the tiny halogen lights. Weighing 350 lbs, this light sculpture can be raised and lowered by a motorized lift system engineered into the adjacent attic space. Custom hinges and grips were specified to hold the glass in place to the rail without conducting the electrical circuit.
